Client SuccessWater services for Thames Water
Thames Water required surveys of their East Hyde Sewage Treatment Works.
Water treatment work sites require continual programme of maintenance and upgrade to ensure they continue to operate in a safe and effective way. There are plans to renew the processes and modernise the buildings and structure at East Hyde that required detailed and accurate information to inform the scheme design.
The complexity of the site and the level of detail requested by the designers required a multi level approach from our survey team. We employed a combination of traditional surveying using Total Stations, with the latest Faro Laser Scanners to capture the intricate detail of the machinery and site processes, including pipework, weirs, invert levels and coping levels so that the whole site could be accurately modelled in 3D.
A huge amount of data was captured to produce the Point Cloud, with over 63 million data points being collected from a total of 1,475 laser scan positions, gathered using two Faro S150 Scanners.
The resulting Pont Cloud dataset was then modelled to LOD300 using AutoCAD Revit to produce a highly detailed 3D BIM that the designers could then use to redesign the structures and processes. And now that the model has been created, it can be updated and added to easily once the new design elements have been constructed, creating a lasting record of the site for potential future works.
