An outdoors role, carrying out walking and driving surveys along gas mains in urban and rural locations, our Data Collection Surveyors have flexibility in their role and are at different locations every day.

At 40Seven, we provide accurate surveying outcomes related to the gas assets of our clients.  Our Data Collection Surveyors play a key role in finding possible hazards, risks and leakages.  This helps the gas industry and its partners reduce the changes of problems or failures with the gas infrastructure.

Continued investment in key transport infrastructure projects in the UK means that there is particular emphasis on Gas Distribution Networks to protect their assets.  This has led to an increase in Mains Risk Prioritisation System (MRPS) survey requirements, meaning we are looking to expand on our current MRPS Survey teams.

As a Data Collection Surveyor (MRPS Surveyor), you will receive full training in relation to risk related surveying guidelines.  MRPS inspections are carried out at a variety of locations and different environments throughout the UK.  MRPS surveying involves a team of dedicated surveyors visiting individual assets daily to collect vital risk information, such as property counts in an area, open/closed ground in front of properties, property cellar information, running lengths of gas mains and other vital risk information whilst on site..

For this role, you will need to:

  • Plan your workload
  • Carry out walking and driving surveys on High, Intermediate, Medium and Low pressure gas mains as indicated within working instructions
  • Interpret existing utility information plans
  • Collate the data gathered into a report in accordance with company procedures and using our bespoke Gas App via an iPad.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties

You will be expected to attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses. This may include, but not be limited to: MS4.1 Surveying guidelines, IOSH, SHEA Gas, SCO1+2, Manual Handling, Flame Ionisation Monitoring and further equipment familiarisation.

Previous experience is not necessary as full training will be provided.  However, the following personal attributes are essential:

  • A methodical, detailed oriented and thorough approach to work
  • Ability to interpret maps and plans
  • Literate and numerate
  • Able to work on own initiative but also as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Willing to work away from home and flexible working hours
  • A desire to work outdoors, in any weather, in a variety of locations across the country
  • A full driving licence
  • The desire to overserve internal and external customers

This role offers a huge amount of variety in working locations and type of work.  The role is mostly site based but you will be expected to visit our offices periodically, to attend internal meetings, training sessions and catch ups.

You will be required to undertake and pass a safety critical worker medical, drug and alcohol test and hold a clear basic DBS check to work in these roles due to the location of some sites.

Candidates with previous experience or skills in the below would also be an ideal fit – Plant Protection Surveyor, Gas Asset Surveyor, MRPS Surveyor, Leakage Surveyor, Field Engineer, Field Surveyor, Field Survey Engineer, Site Operative, Site Assistant, Gas Data Operative, Utility Operative, Field Technician, Asset Surveyor, Field Data Technician, Gas Surveyor, Gas Surveyor Technician, Utility Technician, Risk Surveyor
