We are recruiting for Trainee Utility Surveyors.

A Utility Surveyor determines the location and route of underground utilities, such as water, drainage, gas, electric and telecoms. This information is used by designers and architects when considering the location of new infrastructure, for example, buildings, trainlines or roadways, and by construction companies to reduce the likelihood of striking underground cables or pipes when digging. At 40Seven, we use a variety of methods and technology to carry out utility surveys

We have an excellent and comprehensive training programme for new surveyors which will see you becoming a fully trained surveyor within 12 months of starting your training programme with us. Our training programme is hands on, so from your first week you will be out onsite with your mentor.

We are therefore looking for someone who really wants to learn this profession. Our successful candidate doesn’t need any particular work history or background; we are willing to train people who are looking for a career change or who are looking for their first job. However, the following personal attributes are essential:

  • A methodical, detail oriented and thorough approach to work
  • A good understanding of maths (ideally above a Grade C / 4 at GCSE level or equivalent) and experience of using mathematics in the workplace)
  • A natural desire to work outdoors, in any weather, in a variety of locations across the country
  • A full driving licence

Our successful candidate must be able to work away from home during the week and must be available to carry out night or evening shifts as and when required.

This role offers a huge amount of variety in working locations and type of work. The role is mostly site based, with some office work required. Office work is normally done from our office in Sevenoaks, Kent or Leeds, West Yorkshire when working with others and/or training, but can also be done from home if collaboration is not required.

We work all over the UK so staying away is often part of the role. If you are based from our Sevenoaks office, the majority of your work will be in and around the South East and London. If you are based from our Leeds office, the majority of your work will be in and around Yorkshire, Lancashire and the Midlands.

Listen to one of our former Trainees Adam Craddock talking about his experience at 40Seven and Paul Russell explaining the process of carrying out a Utility Survey.

Benefits

We have a host of great employee benefits including, but not limited to;

  • Enhanced employer contributory pension scheme
  • Enhanced life assurance scheme
  • 25 days holiday allowance
  • Shopping, gym and cinema discounts
  • Salary sacrifice cycle scheme.
  • Introduce a friend bonus scheme
  • Favourable absence pay scheme
  • Celebrating success awards (given out when people do something great)

As well as the above, we will provide you with support and encouragement to learn and develop to truly reach your potential.

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer.
